Summary:

Hey hey~ I was pleasantly surprised at the start of today’s class with all the new faces who showed up! (A new face = someone whom you have not met before)

One of the students was taking his first trial lesson here at VELCO, and he was an absolute pleasure to talk to. He told us all about his interesting experiences learning English overseas in Cebu, Philippines. The other student really surprised everyone when she shared her unusual and cool hobbies, and her ambitious plan to study English in Canada soon!

I’m not that much older than the students, but when I was their age, I was definitely not as hardworking nor brave enough to study a foreign language in a foreign country on my own. They’re so admirable!!

The third student to join us expressed how nervous she was about having to improve her English in a short time, as she will soon be moving to Tokyo and begin her new job as a flight attendant / air stewardess. It’s definitely a challenge trying to understand native English speakers when they speak English at a fast speed. Luckily there are plenty of native English speakers at VELCO to practice with, and you can join Tonomura-sensei’s group outings to practice English with foreign tourists around Kyoto. 🙂
