We had introductions and got to know each other.
Some terms that came up: if my memory serves me well, if my memory serves me right, lining up was worth it, it was worth lining up.

I am being always taken aback by the quality of costumer service in Japan. Do you know the expression ” the costumer is god”? Do you feel like one when you are served in the restaurant? How do staff treat costumers and how do costumers threat catering staff? Is there any dark side to this politeness?

Friday, April 29th Free talking

19:00~ 19:50      3 students

20:00 ~ 20:50    4 students

Today we talked about success, how each student defines this word and is success equal to satisfaction in our life. We also compared our life today with the life in the past and how the modern life today may deprive us from feeling satisfied. This led to an interesting conversation about our failures and how tiny failures during the day may lead to a nightmare at night. We then discussed how we can avoid nightmares and enjoy a nice sleep. A student suggested writing a diary before sleep as helpful strategy! Everyone decided to give it a try! Very nice and fruitful session.

Thursday, April 28th, Travel English + Bf1

19:00~19:50   3 students

20:00~ 20:50  4 students

We practiced several dialogues happing on the check-in desk at the airport. These included some security questions about the baggage, the bag claim tag, receiving the baggage at the final destination rather than the stop-over place, etc.

For the free talking session, the students told me about their strategies of making plans for trips. We shared our experience of some helpful websites we usually use to plan our trips. This varied from websites used for booking a hotel to those of flight tickets or tour packages. I asked the students to write and post an English review on one of these websites about their stay at a hotel or dinner at a restaurant or even a review on a product they bought online from amazon… I think it would be a nice challenge for them and a helpful review for foreigners living in Japan!

2016, 4, 28 Are you~?Do you~?

14:00 to 15:00 Are you~?Do you~?と5W1H④ 5W1H Students 2

What
Where
Who
Why
Which
How

What do you like? ※What you likeではないです。
Who is it? ※What it is ではないです。

Which book do you like?

また
Which do you like yellow book or blue book?
Which is your favorite book?

15:00 to 16:00 SSB be動詞、一般動詞 trial student 1

be 動詞 is am are の使い方の確認。

I am a teacher.
You are a student.
He is a president.

I teach English.
You study English.
He studies English.

I am study English

I am studying English.

i study English everyday.

16:00 to 17:00 SSB students 0

■go with flow with the situation :

i`m gonna stop by 7 ELEVEN

Don`t jump to conclusions.

I`m hyper to go to Disneyland.

■down to the wire :

Renovation is getting down to the wire.

go with the flow with the situationはそのまま覚えて使ってください^^

Conclusions(話の結論)にJumpする訳です。

19:00 to 20:00 & 20:00 to 21:00 SSB 助動詞基礎、助動詞応用 students 6

まず基本的な助動詞can,will,should,must等を説明しました。

その後今日のメインポイントcould, might,should,would,mustなどの説明をしました。

I could go to velco if i didn`t have any work today.

I might take shower after school.

i should finish my work in 1 hour.

I would be at nano house after finish class.

i must be in Russia in 5 days.

What do you think if you can speak English in future or not?

What do you think if you can be rich in future or not?

What do you think if japanese people can speak English in near future or not?

I must be able to speak English.
I would be able to speak English.
I could be able to speak English.

See you on next time^^

This week 3 students came to BF class in total.

about spending money to keep beauty.

Then we talked about the earthquake in Kyushu area
and posting something about the quake on the web.
Some people feel satisfied by just “sharing” the
information about the quake. Do you think they are
actually helping those people suffering from the disaster?

make a plan
I’m planning to do ~

You must be tired.

I rarely listen to music.

2016.4.27 Wednesday: Free Talk‏‏‏

19:00-20:00 1 student

20:00-21:00 1 student

We discussed yoga, some unique death rituals, past and present, in different cultures around the world, and our  being squeamish  around dead bodies. We watched a trailer for Children of the Pyre and talked about caste systems that still linger.

We mentioned Phoolan Devi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar, 2  reformers in India who had interesting backgrounds-most notably-being born into low caste families.

We also talked about Ninajii temple in Kyoto and its Shinngon sect heritage. Since Kobo Daishi was the founder of this lineage, I asked the student to tell me about KD`s esoteric past. He mostly told me about the exoteric past but I was happy with that…
