Friday, Oct.28th: F1 + Presentation

We talked about a situation in which we witness our close friend’s boyfriend/girlfriend is cheating on our friend.
The students were supposed to discuss what kind of reactions would be appropriate in such a case.
Responses varied from ignoring the whole situation to talking to the person indirectly and ​to inform our friend of what we have witnessed.
We discussed each response and had a very engaging session.
For the presentation class, the student prepared and delivered a talk on the traits of successful people. She explained that one important point is not to regret about the past, another one is being persuasive and using the available opportunities​.
For the next session, please choose one of the following topics:

1.Describe the character of the person you would like to date?

2.Can you tell about your childhood?

We practiced a dialogue​ on buying souvenirs​. The students were supposed to do several role-plays to practice the different sets of dialogues​.

For the free discussion session, the students described how they have spent their past two weeks. They talked abut their trips, jobs, deadlines, plans, etc.
We had a fun session​ on Thursday.

明後日はハロウィーン。今夜街中は仮装した人でごった返す模様。

こちらは、今流行の「PPAP」にちなんでパイナップルをゲットしました!

本日のトラベル英会話。

質問コーナー!

「Do you like an active trip or a relaxing trip? Why?」

で、日本語で

「せっかく海外にいるのだから、アクティブに動き回る方がいいです。」
と言いたい場合・・

「せっかく」って言葉、英語にはないですよね?

なので、英語では例えば、こういいます。

「When you travel abroad,you have a lot of things to see.
I would rather go out and move around than staying in the hotel.」

(せっかく海外旅行するんだからたくさん見たいものあるよね。
ワタシはホテルにいるよりも外で色々見て回りたいな)
*この時のyouは一般的に~したらという意味の場合の主語に使われます。

疑問詞は英語をしゃべる上でも聞き取る上でも重要項目かと思うので、
復習も大切かと思います!

その後先週も扱ったwhat do you think ofについての勉強をしました!
内容は先週分のブログをみていただけたらと思います^^

What are the types of membership?

Under the Category 1 membership what is the fixed amount to be paid per month?

Population of Japan is……?

Working population of Japan is…?

Number of people enrolled as Category 1 membership  in Japan is…?

How much will the monthly pension make and for how long will it last assuming that the person have been paying/working for 40 years?

Do foreign citizens have to contribute to the NPS? How much? Will the working years count in upon the return to his/her native country?

Describing changes on a line graph: climbed slightly, increase steadily, dropped markedly, decline a little, rose dramatically. Look at the handout.

Look at the diagrams and describe what you see. Find as many noun forms for each verb e.g. to fall/ a fall; to grow/ a growth; to get worse/ a downturn, etc.

Now you know how use visual aids and describe changes so let`s practice! Look at the graph showing CO2 emission in Non-OECD and OECD countries and the global total. Try to describe it.

This is the general structure:

[3] Main Message: key info ( trends of data)

Students asked one another about their jobs and departments and exchanged ideas about work related travel overseas.

We saw a headline about a herd of elephants traveling 12 hours to possibly be at the vigil for the man who rescued them.

この場合は関係代名詞は省略できます!

最近は関係代名詞強化期間と題してやっております!笑

次も関係代名詞やります!笑

多読は試行覚悟した結果有名なスピーチを中心に進めて行くことにしました!その第一弾として今回はスティーブ・ジョブズの伝説のスピーチを扱っております!このスピーチは英語の勉強になるのはもちろんのこと内容としても素晴らしく非常に楽しめる更に考えさせられるものになっております。
