Friday, Jan 27th: F1 + Presentation

19:00~19:50     3 students

20:00~20:50    1 student

On Friday we talked about the Olympic games in 2020. We discussed various plans intended for this big event and the type of influence it would have on Japan both from the economical and cultural point of view. We also talked about Olympic in China and Brazil, compared them and discussed any existing problem.

As for the presentation class on Friday, we rather talked about academic-related issues as well as difficulties than focusing on the topics. Thus I would like to keep the topics for the next class. It was a very nice and pleasant session!

  1. Do you think that single people are happier?
  2. What is the motto of your life?

On Friday we talked about the advancements of technologies and how these advances affected our life. This led to an interesting discussion about the children today compared to previous generations and if they are smarter or not considering that they are very good at using various available devices. We talked a lot and we found some differences between the generations.

For the presentation class, a student delivered a talk on the different habits and how or where we adopt them. Her presentation was interesting in a sense that she pointed out the role of peers on our habits.

The following topics are what we intend to talk about next session:

  1. Do you think that single people are happier?
  2. What is the motto of your life?

Friday, Jan. 13th: F1 + Presentation

19:00 ~ 20:00    4 students

20:00 ~ 20:50     1 student

On Friday we discussed the influence of the weather on our mood. The students had different ideas. Some believed that rainy days put us in physically bad conditions, hence we feel like we are not in a mood. Others in contrary believed that our negative views of rainy days make us feel in a bad mood, which in turn leads to physically bad conditions. Nice discussion!

For the presentation class, in which one student participated. We talked about giving false excuses to reject an offer. It turned out that we often do so in order to avoid rejecting our close friends and making them annoyed. The student explained in her presentation that it is important to make the false excuses, persuasive, short and simple! Good presentation!

For the next class, please choose from the following topics:

  • What is your favorite holiday memory? Tell us about it.
  • Where do we learn our habits? and Which habits are the most difficult to develop or to get rid of?
