After Thursday’s party we are back to normal free talk class! For our first class we talked about the infamous Kyoto University Yoshida Ryo, or dormitory, which is almost 107 years old. The students there have formed a pseudo society and the university wants to tear it down for safety. We talked about what it means for the university to protect its students and what responsibilities the students have for their own safety. Very interesting conversation and I am looking forward to what happens after the evacuation deadline on the 30th.
For our second class we discussed first impressions, appearances, and why a picture is important for Japanese resumes. We discussed how keeping a clean image makes you look clean, and responsible. Why do we think this and what are the reasons behind our stereotypes and images. Again very interesting conversation with viewpoints on both sides!
